Over the last few years, our team at Shift Capital has focused on re-energizing the neighborhoods in Kensington north of Lehigh Ave as well around the intersection of Broad Street and Erie Avenue. We have invested in revitalizing commercial and residential properties, empowering local entrepreneurs and businesses, and partnering with community organizations. Two of our considerable investments have been Kensington Avenue and the Beury Building at the intersection of Broad Street and Germantown Avenue.
A boost in funding to preserve an historic icon
The Beury Building received $200,000 in state historic rehab tax credit. This funding stream continues the momentum and energy around Shift Capital’s reimagining of the legendary Beury and its restoration as the cornerstone of the community.

Tenant Spotlight: Tyrone Manuel, Goodwill Industries
In May of 2017, Shift signed a lease with Goodwill Industries of Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia for 22,000 sq ft of warehouse space at 1440 Erie Avenue. The site houses an employment program for returning citizens.
Remediation Work Begins on the Iconic Beury Building
After almost 4 decades of dormancy, Shift Capital is proud to announce that abatement work has begun at the Beury Building. On February 19, 2018, environmental workers began work on the clean-up of the site, a first step towards the return of the North Philadelphia iconic building.
