We teamed with our partners–Hinge Collective and NKCDC, PennDesign, PennPraxis, the Tusculum Street neighbors, and community members–to turn a vacant lot at the corner of Kensington Avenue and Tusculum into a beautiful green space. The lot, once filled with litter and home to illegal dumping, now stands as a welcoming space for residents and visitors.
Our team partnered with about forty volunteers to level the lot, add new lighting, install seven large planter boxes, plant five trees, lay new sod and paint the sidewalk. We continue to play an active role in maintaining the beauty of the park.
“I dream of a safe, healthy, affordable and beautiful Kensington.”
One of the defining elements of Tusculum Square was The Kensington Wish Gallery–a collaboration between Rock Ministries and Chris Baker Evens coupled photographs of residents with their wishes and shared vision for Kensington.
